Advantages of the Internet: Information at your fingertips: Keeping in touch with friends and loved ones: Online gaming: Multi – Media sites: Shop online: Home studying:    Disadvantages of the internet: The Expense: Paedophiles, Pornography sites and Pop-up adverts: Identity theft, credit card fraud, Hackers: Online gambling/credit card debt and addition: Solutions to safer internet usage:        In our opinion the disadvantages make a stronger and are a more compelling argument against getting internet connected. There is no real way of stopping the disadvantages of the internet. Some one will always find a way around whatever security measures are put in place. Here are some ideas that we came up with.   v     Young children should be supervised at all times by an adult.     v     Check their history after they have been on the internet.     v     Parents should know their children’s passwords for their face book account, bebo account and e-mail account.   v     For credit card and fraud details these should be a list of questions only you would know the answers to and each time you log on to buy some thing they should ask one of your chosen security questions at random to verify it is you.     v     There should be close regulations on gambling sites and there should be strict limitations to the amount of funds available.      v     There should be closer control for your proof of age when going on gambling sites.     v     Block sites.     v     The internet should be linked to one main central control system and everything should be monitored more securely.
