“Young people’s experience and advice on Internet Policies”

Edinburgh, 3rd December, 10:30 – 16:45

The HUWY project aims to get young people talking about policies and laws which affect the Internet and channel their ideas to governments and parliaments, national and EU. This event marks the launch of the Hub websites designed to support this process and the beginning of the interactive phase of the HUWY project.

The morning of the launch will include short presentations from

• HUWY partners
• youth groups -including Young Scot, Jugendpresse Deutschland and YouthNet
• and policy-makers - including remote presentations from Hille Hinsberg from the Estonian State Chancellery and Matthias Groote MEP

If you are a young person (or work with young people) interested in the Internet or a policy maker (elected representative or government employee) involved in policies and laws which impact on Internet use…come along. You’ll enjoy it.

In the afternoon, we have 2 workshops:

1. Donegal Youth Service provide young people’s perspective: Do As You Say or Do As We Do
2. Workshop organised by UK’s Ministry of Justice to provide a policy-maker’s perspective: Making a difference - how to translate engagement into change.

The launch will be held at the e-Science Institute, 15 South College Street,
Edinburgh, EH8 9AA, UK.
