Every month, your payslip is deposited on the Alis portal of BNP Paribas. Finding it takes just a few seconds, provided you know where to click and have configured your access correctly. The Alis portal centralizes all HR management for the group, but the payroll section remains the one that employees consult most often.
Multifactor Authentication on Alis: The Prerequisite Many Discover Too Late
Have you ever tried to open Alis from home one evening to check an amount on your payslip? If the page displays an access denial, the problem almost always comes from the same place: MFA has not been activated on the internal network.

MFA (multifactor authentication) is a two-step verification. Your username and password are no longer sufficient. Alis requires an additional confirmation, sent to your work phone or via the group’s authentication app.
The catch is that this activation must be done from a workstation connected to the BNP Paribas network. It is impossible to initiate it for the first time while working remotely or from a personal Wi-Fi network. If you have just joined the group, make sure to complete this step on your first day at the office, even before looking for your payslip.

To easily find your BNP Paribas payslip with Alis, this initial configuration remains a necessary step.

Connecting to Alis While Working Remotely: VPN or Direct Access
Once MFA is activated, there are two ways to access your payroll documents from outside the BNP Paribas network.
The Group VPN on Workstation
The most reliable method remains the preconfigured VPN on your work computer. This secure tunnel simulates a connection to the internal network. Alis then behaves exactly as if you were in the office: smooth navigation, full access to HR modules, and unrestricted downloading of payslips.
Direct Access with MFA
If your workstation does not have a VPN or if you are using a mobile device, direct access also works, with one condition: MFA must have been set up in advance on the internal network. Without this prior step, the portal blocks the connection. There is no workaround.
In practical terms, the difference between the two methods is summarized as follows:
- The VPN offers access identical to that of the office, without additional verification for each session
- Direct access without VPN requires an MFA validation for each connection, which adds a few seconds
- On mobile, direct access with MFA is often the only option available for quickly viewing a payslip
HR Identifier and Banking Client Space: A Common Confusion
Many BNP Paribas employees are also clients of the bank. They therefore have two distinct online spaces, with two different identifiers. The confusion between the two generates a significant portion of access blocks to Alis.
Your HR employee number, provided upon hiring, is the only valid identifier for Alis. It has no connection to your online banking codes. Entering your banking client number on the Alis login page will only trigger an error message, or even a temporary block after several attempts.
To find your employee number, check the letter or email received during your onboarding. It is also listed on your previous payslips, at the top of the document, usually next to your name.
Downloading and Archiving Your Payslips from Alis
Once logged in, the payroll section can be found in the HR documents area of the portal. Each payslip is available in PDF format, organized by month and year.
Why archive your payslips locally? Alis retains your documents for the entire duration of your contract. However, after leaving the group, access to the portal is disabled within a variable timeframe depending on the entities. Regularly downloading your payslips prevents you from having to request them from the HR department later.
Some practical tips for archiving:
- Create a folder for each year on your personal computer or a secure storage space
- Ensure that the PDF opens correctly after each download
- Also keep your employer certificates and contractual documents, available in the same section

Alis Account Lock: Reflexes to Adopt
A forgotten password or too many failed attempts locks your access. The portal then displays an error message without specifying the steps to follow, which confuses many employees.
The internal HR support is the only channel authorized to unlock an Alis account. Neither the standard banking assistance nor the BNP Paribas public customer service can intervene on an HR identifier. Contact your HR manager or the IT support indicated on your entity’s intranet.
While waiting for the unlock, your payslips remain intact on the portal. No documents are deleted during a temporary lock.
Access to your payslips on Alis depends on three elements: a correctly identified HR employee number, MFA activated from the internal network, and a regular archiving reflex. Once these three points are addressed, consultation becomes a matter of a few clicks, whether you are in the office or working remotely.
